Good Deeds.
Based on B.T. Newberg's blog, "One Good Deed Per Day: Happiness Through Service, and the students- Ann and Sheena- from Rick Benjamin's Poetry in the Community class at Brown, we are going to keep an ongoing record of Period 6's good deeds from now until the end of the year. Not sure if this is going to be daily, weekly, monthly but the important thing is to start.
Your assignment for Ann and Sheena due tomorrow March 17 is to write a poem that responds to- Where can your good do the most?
Let's break this down. As seniors, most of you are 17 or 18 years old. You have 17 or 18 years of life experience. Great. Let's think about this life experience.
1. Who are you and what are your interests? Write down your thoughts.
2. What are your strengths? Make a list.
3. How can you use these strengths in the following areas: home, school, after school activities, sports, arts, church, friends, job, other? Write this down.
4. Reflect on this information and write a paragraph about who you are, your strengths and interests in the various places in your life.
5. Similarly to the loosely structure Found Poem, choose words and phrases from your paragraph and organize these words into a poem format.
